Core Professional Beliefs.
One of my core professional beliefs is relationship focus. Through serve-and return interactions and emotionally and creating a supportive environment. Lev Vygotsky's theory fostering building trusting relationships between the child and families and children they learn through social interactions and cultural experiences. This theory beliefs plays a fundamental role in shaping their cognitive growth. Lev Vygotsky's theory influences my professional as an educator by building relationships with children and families.
My second core professional belief growth and development by providing high-quality best-practice as a professional of early childhood education belief play is a strong tool for learning, promoting creativity, cooperation, and problem solving. Children learn best through play they develop social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skills. Piaget's cognitive development theory suggested that child growth through distinct stages of cognitive development, shaping how children think and learn. As an early childhood educator Piaget's theory by responsibility that ensuring that I am providing an engaging meaningful learning experiences and creating an environment rich in manipulatives, sensory.
My third core professional belief is how I can advocate the importance of quality care for children and families and ensuring that all children have access to high-quality learning experiences. By doing so it will help with the importance of awareness in early childhood education and making sure every child succeeds. The National Association for the education of young children NAEYC has many resources to research and to share with teachers and parents. I think children flourish in cultures that highly value their individuality, creativity, and safety. I think that families are included in education, and play is a learning strength.
New Beliefs Developed Through My BS Program
My fourth I feel that early childhood education needs culturally responsive teaching for equity. I feel this due to research by NAEYC and scholars such as Gloria Ladson-Billings, which emphasizes the need to confirm children's identities within relationships and through curriculum. This belief affects my work in the sense that it leads me to create inclusive learning experiences that are representative of multi-culture and multi-family structures. It informs my working self as a social justice and belonging activist. It is evident in my curriculum plans that include multilingual texts, multicultural family stories, and anti-bias techniques.
My fifth I think reflective practice is the cornerstone of professional development. I think so because Donald Schön's writing on reflective practitioners portrays the way ongoing self-inquiry results in more learning and ethical decisions. It is a faith that inspires me to work by writing, soliciting feedback, and revising methods based on children's reactions. It reminds me about what is real and intentional in my practice. This can be seen in the conference presentations and group planning sessions where I discuss ideas and open up channels for dialogue.
My sixth I personally believe that strengthening communities comes from enabling families. I hold this belief because studies indicate that family involvement enhances the social and academic success of children (Harvard Family Research Project). My work is driven by this belief in motivating me to make available resources and organize family workshops. This belief guides my purpose of serving as a bridge among school systems and families. This is reflected in my outreach and advocacy of family-friendly policies.
